What to expect

You are invited to visit any gathering of the Johnson Street Church (see Service Times and Directions). If you choose to worship with us on a Sunday morning, here are some of the things you will experience.

 GREETING

You will be welcomed at the door by one of our greeters and given a copy of that morning's worship bulletin. This bulletin contains a schedule for the service of worship as well as current news and concerns for the church. The greeter will be glad to assist you in finding a seat, or, if you prefer, allow you to "blend in" with the congregation. If you have special needs (such as hearing assistance), please inform the greeter.

WORSHIP

Worship begins in praise and song. You will notice that we encourage the whole congregation to sing together and there are no musical instruments accompanying the singing. This is because, as a Church of Christ, we are committed to the tradition of modeling our worship after the worship of the church as described in the New Testament and because we believe worship is intended for participation rather than viewing. You are invited to join us in all phases of our worship, but we promise that you will not be singled out in any way. You will be warmly welcomed by those leading the worship and by those sitting near you, but you are welcome to "fly under the radar" if you choose.

THE LORD'S SUPPER

Johnson Street shares together in the Lord's Supper each Sunday morning. This time of communion with our Lord and with each other is open to all believers. Feel free to join us if you choose.

GIVING

Each Sunday, we provide our members with the opportunity to give to the work of the church. As our guest, you are invited but certainly not expected to participate in this offering.

NEEDS

At the conclusion of the sermon, an invitation is extended to any who has needs to come to the front of the worship center to allow the church to minister to those needs. Also, following each morning worship time, some of the Johnson Street elders are available in our Chapel to meet privately with anyone in need. Any of our greeters or members would be happy to assist you in finding the Chapel.
